Colm Basquel left Croke Park yesterday with more than most. Another 2 goals, a man of the match award and most importantly a ticket to an All Ireland Semi-Final against Monaghan.

Dublin played the first half in first gear and created an illusion that both sets of fans were in for a nail-biting second half. This is the first-half goal from Basquel showing off his strength and finishing.

The second half was more of a gloating cigar-smoking stroll on and off the park as the Dubs battered Mayo in the first ten minutes of the restart.

Basquel’s second goal was more of a team effort and all the hard-work was done outside the box for Colm to just tap it into the back of the net.

Dessie Farrell has a really strong bench this year and he had the luxury of bringing on the likes of Ciarán Kilkenny, a big omission from the starting 15, and the returning Jack McCaffrey.
